  3. Equal function values at endpoints: f(a) = f(b), indicating that the function takes the same value at the interval’s endpoints.

Rolle’s Theorem states that if a function starts and finishes at the same value (i.e., f(a)=f(b)) and is smooth and continuous in between (i.e., no breaks, jumps, or sharp corners), the graph of the function must have a horizontal tangent at some point in between.
